Flight - The Subtly Embellished Diner's Cup

This scene starts with a wide shot of Whip Whitaker played by Denzel Washington, (middle) Charlie played by Bruce Greenwood (left) and Hugh Lang played by Don Cheadle (right). At a distance the cups, appropriated by each mans right hand, seem white and featureless.

It's an incredibly important scene as Washington is told by lawyer Cheadle that his toxicology report discovered traces of alcohol and cocaine in his system at the time he was flying a plane inverted. A scene loosely based on a true live plane crash where a plane

The cups here play an insignificant role to the scene. Until the camera pans into the report itself and you can see the cup is decorated by some ornate lines (three of them) underscored by a pattern of dots that look like bullet points. These same dots can be seen on the rim of the saucer.

The handle of the cup also looks to have some ornate lines run down its core and there is a break in the lines above. We can assume that the contents of the cup is black coffee as this is a breakfast setting.

Flight was largely filmed on location near Atlanta, Georgia. Some hotels were mentioned in this blog but sadly I've not been able to identify which hotel this scene was filmed in. Once I do I'll email the hotel and see if I can get some more intel on this uniquely embellished coffee cup.
